Vintage Suitcase Chalkboard

This was a super fun and easy project.  I purchased my suitcase at a yard sale.  I wasn't planning on going to any sales that day, but I happened to see a sign and decided to follow it. 

For once it was worthwhile to follow a garage sale sign... ha ha. 

 

 

I painted both sides of the suitcase with chalkboard paint.  It basically only took one coat since it was dark grey already, but I did a thin second coat because you can't be guaranteed to hit every single little spot the first time! 

 

 

 

Then I added a tag that I made and some of the hands stamped muslin ribbon that I sell in my Etsy shop, here. 

 

 

While I was photographing, I had to tape the tag and the ends of the ribbons in place because the breeze kept blowing them around. 

 

This piece is great because while adding a fun touch to your space, it also offers storage.  Don't you just love functional décor?!
