Two Chair Makeovers

Well, here is the promised chair makeover.  A day late, but better late than never.  And to make up for it, I am including a bonus chair makeover that I did a while back, but never posted about. 

I just finished this one, though.  And I love how it turned out.  I hadn't painted a chair white in a long time and all of a sudden, this chair just HAD to be white. 

 

There are actually three of these chairs.  Cracked vinyl seats and all.

 

This chair was sooo wobbly, almost every single joint was loose.  My husband took it apart and cleaned all the joints for me and together we glued it back together.  I didn't take pictures of this process, but we have two more to go.  Is anyone interested in a tutorial? 

 

I used Cece Caldwell chalk paint in Simply White. It's actually quite a nice shade of white.  It's not too stark and has a little bit of warmth to it.  I love how I can distress this paint right in the kitchen using a wet rag... no mess required!  The clear wax finished it off nicely.

And I added some pretty new fabric.  Once the vinyl was off we discovered a layer of batting and then the original leather seat. I left the leather intact just in case someone wants to restore it someday. 

 

 

And this is the second chair I completed.

My husband loved the way it was before.  He thought it was the perfect 'undone' or 'deconstructed' chair.

I used another coffee sack on the seat, but this time finished the edges with upholstery tacks for a bit of a different look .  It was painted in Vermont Slate Chalk paint, by Cece Caldwell and finished with clear wax.
