A Simply Chic White Table

When I originally bought this table, I didn't really intend to paint it.  It had been refinished and was in decent shape... or so I thought.  It was in the basement of the person's home that I purchased it from and the lighting was a little dim, so I didn't notice the big gouge out of the top.  The finish was FULL of bubbles, like they had shaken the poly can before applying it, and hadn't bothered to sand them out between coats, either.

So, this table received a little wood filler lovin', and a nice big sanding to smooth out all those bubbles.  I have painted a lot of these types of legs lately, and I am seriously considering purchasing a paint sprayer.  Any suggestion on the best kind to buy?

I am happy with the simplicity of this table.  Just some white paint and some light distressing, really brightened it up.

I own a half-moon table that would actually match nicely with this piece.  It originally belonged to my great-grandparents, though, and I know my mom would kill me if I painted it!

I have a couple more projects to share with you soon!

  2. I LOVE your table - and I'd love it even if I didn't once have one just like it! I sold it in a garage sale years ago. Now I have two that are very similar. One is painted cream and distressed, and the other is painted and needs to be stripped badly. Someone pained latex over oil I have scraped it except for those legs - so I know what you mean! I'll strip it this summer.

  6. How fresh and sweet this looks! I have a somewhat similar table and I've been debating about painting it. I really should, but it has that truly chippy paint that makes it so charming. Seeing yours it tempting me to just do it.
